There are a number of big words that sum up what God has done for us, and it turns out that a number of these words end in SHUN! (that’s the sound anyway).

Let’s look at one of these big words.

Can you tell me who this person is?  Can you tell me anything about this person?

[Examples: David Beckham; Neil Armstrong; Henry VIII; Tutankhamun]

It is possible to know about each of them, even to know them personally if we lived in the right place at the right time.

But “How can we know God?”

We can know a bit about Him from the world around us.  However these is a problem we’re told about in John 1:18: “No-one has ever seen God…”

It’s hard to know someone if you’ve never seen them.

This brings us to the big word – “Revela-SHUN!” which means that “God shows himself to us”.

We can know God because He has made Himself known.

John 1:18 continues: “No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at Father’s side, has made him known.”

We can know God because Jesus, God’s Son, has made Him known.  When you look at Jesus, you see God.  As you get to know Jesus better, you get to know God better.

If we lived 2000 years ago, we could have seen Jesus with our own eyes, but we can still see Him today as we read the Bible.  The Bible is all about Jesus.

Jesus not only makes it possible for us to know about God, He also makes it possible for those who trust in Him to know God personally as their Father too!
