Confess that like Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, so we have done evil in God's sight and continue to do so, which is why we need saving.
Confess that we are prone to forget the LORD - who He is and what He has done. Ask God to help us to remember and bring to mind great thoughts of Him.
Confess that we are tempted to worship other gods. Pray that we would see Christ as more beautiful and satisfying and delightful that any of the gods of this world.
Acknowledge the rightness of God's judgment of sinners and discipline of His people. Praise God He disciplines us to bring us back to Himself and to show us where we are erring and straying.
Thank God that He hears our cries for help and rescue and answers them.
Praise God that we have an ultimate judge, Spirit-filled deliverer and Saviour in the Lord Jesus who has rescued us in a surprising way by dying on the cross.
If God can use surprising people and surprising ways to bring salvation to His people, He can use unimpressive and unimportant people like us as we witness to Christ.
Ask God to give us a sense of anticipation and desire to hear the LORD speaking through His Word as we read it and hear it preached. Eglon's eagerness to hear a message from God highlights our carelessness towards hearing God speak.
Praise God that an eternal rest in coming to God's people because our Judge did not die.
