Are the following things, good or bad?

Food.

Sport.

School or work.

Speech.

Technology and the internet.

Yes, these are all good gifts to enjoy.  They are very good!

But, they each can be very bad too.

Because each of these things can be poisoned by Satan, and this is another one of the schemes or tactics, like lying, pretending to be something he is not, snatching, and accusing, that he uses to harm God’s people.

We need to know the ways he tries to harm us, so that as Paul wrote, *“Satan might not outwit us” (2 Corinthians 2:11)*

Satan poisons.

He takes good things and poisons them so that they become harmful things.

He encourages us to worship them instead of God or to use them to harm other people.

He is like wormwood whom we read about in Revelation 8:11 who makes water, which is meant to be refreshing and life giving, bitter and which kills.

Think for a moment about how he does this with speech.  Speech is good gift that enables us to communicate with one another and with God.  How does Satan use speech?  In Genesis 3, he uses speech to harm as he questions and lies to God’s people: “Did God really say?”
