Can you solve the following problems?

You are in a cabin and it is pitch black.  You have one match on you.  Which do you light first, the newspaper, the lamp, the candle or the fire? [You light the match first!]

Five people stood under a small umbrella but none of them got wet.  Why didn’t any of them get wet? [It was not raining!]

A boy and a doctor were fishing.  The boy is the doctor’s son but the doctor is not the boy’s father.  Who is the doctor? [His mother!]

There are three houses.  One is red.  One is blue.  One is white.  If the red house is to the left of the house in the middle and the blue is to the right of the house in the middle, where is The White House? [In Washington DC!]

After 40 years of wandering around in the wilderness, the people of Israel under Joshua’s leadership were now ready to enter the land God had promised them.  This time they trusted God’s promise.  But two problems or obstacles lay in their way.

The River Jordan AND God’s enemies that were living in the land.

Once the two spies had return, the people packed up their gear and got ready to cross over the River Jordan and into the land of Canaan.  But the river was so high they couldn’t cross.  Also there was no bridge, or tunnel, or ferry to get them across.

It looks like God won’t be able to keep His promise after all.

God said to Joshua: “As soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD – the Lord of all the earth – set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.” (Joshua 3:13)

And that’s what happened.

As soon as the priests carrying the ark stepped into the water, the water stopped and the Israelites crossed over on dry ground, like they did back in Egypt when the Red Sea was parted.

God was continuing to keep His promise.  But what about the enemies of God living in the land?
