Titus 3:4-5

v4: Love and grace has appeared with the great power needed “to soften, change, and turn people to God.”  This salvation is from God the Father “by means of Christ, through the Spirit.”  It began with “the divine kindness and love of God to men.” We are saved by grace from first to last.

v5: “In the plan of our salvation, the applying and effecting part is attributed especially to Holy Spirit.” Without the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we would not and could not turn to God, nor live for Him, as in our own strength, we are unable to. We are “born of the Spirit… given life and sanctified by the Spirit… Through him we put to death sin, fulfil our duty, [and] walk in God’s ways.”
