Titus 1:9-11
v9: Elders must "hold firmly to and hold out" the message of Christ "in their teaching and life." It is important that they do if they are "to persuade others to the true faith and to convince those who oppose it." How can they do this if they are "not holding firmly to the faithful word and sound doctrine"?
v10-11: Why must false teachers be opposed and silenced? It is to prevent them from harming church members by drawing them away "from the true faith to their destruction."
