Romans 6

v1-14: Justification cannot be separated from sanctification and a holy life.  Sanctification in general contains two aspects: mortification (dying to sin) and renewal (living to righteousness).  Mortification is the putting off of the old self.  "We must not be as we have been nor do as we have done... We must not only stop committing acts of sin, but also have the corrupt habits and inclinations weakened and destroyed... Although we may sometimes be overtaken and overcome by sin, let us never be obedient to it."  Renewal is walking "according to new rules, toward new ends, from new principles."  It is "to talk with God, to have regard for him, to delight in him, to have a concern for him... it is to have the affections and desires alive toward God," and it is to use our bodies to serve God.

v15-23: Every sin deserves death, and "all who are sin's servants and do sin's work must expect to be paid in this way."  Eternal life, "the vision and enjoyment of God... with no illness or weakness, and no death to put an end to it," is a gift of God through Christ "who purchased it, prepares us for it, and keep us safe for it," to those who don't deserve this.  "Sinners deserve hell, but saints do not deserve heaven."
