Philemon 1:4-7

v4: "The object of Paul's praises and prayers for Philemon" is God, because it is God who "is the author of all the good that is in anyone or is done by them."  Giving thanks to God for others when we see "any good in them, done by them, or given to them," should be a normal part of the Christian life.

v5-6: The most encouraging news we can receive about someone is that their faith is in Christ and the way they love all the saints, even those who have "different attitudes and ways in nonessentials."  A frequent prayer for other believers in Christ is that this faith and love which they have would grow and be seen in how they live and the works that they do "to God's glory and for the good of others."

v7: Don't you want to be a refresher of hearts?  To be someone who blesses other followers of Jesus by giving encouragement to the discouraged, hope to the downcast, assurance to the doubting, power to the tempted, restoration to the fallen, comfort to the grieving, and help to the grieving.  We give this refreshment by showing Christlike love to others and speaking Christ's heart-refreshing words to them.
