Mark 12
v1-12: Those who bring the gospel are to some an aroma of death leading to death, but to others, an aroma of life leading to life. What are they to us?
v13-17: "Hypocrisy, however skilfully managed, cannot be hidden from the Lord Jesus."
v18-27: To deny the resurrection of the dead is a serious error, and those who do need to be told so.
v28-34: The commandment to love God with all our hearts includes all the commands He gives. There is no commandment more important than this one. If we love God with all our hearts, we will seek to do “everything by which he may be honoured and with which he will be pleased."
v35-40: “Iniquity disguised by a show of piety is double iniquity."
v41-44: Jesus sees how we give. He knows whether we give generously or not. He knows whether we give cheerfully or not. He knows our motives in giving and whether we are doing so for the Lord or only to be seen by other people. If we give "according to our ability and with an upright heart, it will be accepted by Christ."
