Jude 17-19

v17: When we see the fulfilment of what the apostles foretold would happen in their letters in the New Testament, this “should confirm [our] faith rather than shake or unsettle [us] in it.” We should not think it strange when deceivers and false teachers arise because there are so many warnings given, telling us that they would come.

v18: We “must assure ourselves with the thought” that when “errors and persecutions arise and even prevail” in the church, “Christ will keep his church and fulfil his promise that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

v19: If the worldly deceivers “follow the Devil, the world, and the flesh by their ungodly way of life” and “divisive practices,” then “the better we should seek and approve ourselves to be” by holding “on to sound doctrine and good conduct.”
