Joshua 18

v1: The Tabernacle "had been in the middle of their camp in the desert, and so it must now be in the middle of their nation." The worship of God is to be at the centre of church life and the life of a Christian.

v2-10: "Joshua rebukes those tribes which are still not settled because they have not yet stirred themselves to gain a settlement in the land God has given them." They were enjoying their present situation too much. We can be far too satisfied and pleased with our present situation that we give no thought to our future inheritance.

v11-28: The territory of Benjamin is next to Joseph, who would give protection to his younger brother, and next to Judah, so that they might later join with them "in supporting the throne of David and the temple of Jerusalem."
