Joshua 15
v1-12: "Judah and Joseph were the two sons of Jacob who received the birthright that Reuben lost through sin. Judah had the birthright passed onto him, and Joseph received a double portion, and so these two tribes were the first ones to be established." By the casting of lots, Judah was established in the south, and Joseph in the north. The inheritance of each tribe was what God assigned for them.
v13-19: Caleb's daughter asked her father to bless her. We see from this, "that it is not breaking the tenth commandment to moderately desire those comforts and conveniences of this life which we see we can gain in a fair and proper way." It was not a loss for Caleb to give her not only the land in the Negev, but also the upper and lower springs. "Parents must never regard as lost what is given to their children for their advantage."
v20-63: Out of the all the cities mentioned, we do not find Bethlehem, which was called the city of David and "was given the special honour of being the birthplace of our Lord Jesus." Christ gives "honour to the places he was related to" but doesn't "receive honour" because He is related to them.
