Joshua 10
v1-6: "Satan and his instruments make war of those who make peace with God." The Amorite kings fought against the Gibeonites, who turned to Joshua for help. "When our spiritual enemies set themselves against us... let us turn in faith and prayer to Christ, our Joshua, for strength and support."
v7-14: "God inclines the hearts of his praying people to ask what he wants to give." Joshua prays that the sun might stand still, so that Israel's enemies might be defeated, and he believed in the almighty power of God to do this.
v15-27: "If we run away from God, we... will be disappointed by what we flee to." The kings thought that they could hide from God, but what gave them shelter, "first became their prison and then their grave."
v28-43: It seems like Joshua led the Israelites in conquering all these cities in the south in a short space of time. "We can see from this what a great deal of work may be done in a little time, if we will only be busy and make the most of opportunities."
