John 10

v1-18:"Jesus Christ is the best shepherd, the best in the world to have oversight of souls. No one is as skilful, faithful, or tender as he is; no one feeds and leads, protects and heals souls as he does." As the good shepherd He knows His flock.  He knows all who are His flock now and those who are not.  He knows the condition of His sheep and is concerned for them "and continually thinks about them in the intercession he always lives to make."  He knows all who will belong to His flock later.  He knows who will believe in Him from among the Gentiles, and speaks of them as His sheep already, "even though they were then uncalled, and many of them unborn, because they were chosen by God and given to Christ in the purposes of divine love from eternity."

v19-21: "It is better for people to be divided about the teaching of Christ than united in the service of sin." The words Christ spoke are full of holiness which makes it clear that they don't come from hell and instead must come from heaven.

v22-39: Shepherds with large flocks may lose some of their sheep, but Christ says not one of His sheep will perish.  He "is so protective of them that he has them not merely within his fold, under his eye, but in his hand."

v40-42: The greatness of Christ is seen when we compare Him with others.  John was a great prophet, but "Christ far surpassed John the Baptist’s power, for John did no miracles, but Jesus did many."  It is easy to conclude from this that Jesus was greater than John.
