Hebrews 11:23-40
v23-29: “The pleasures of this world... are too often the pleasures of sin” which last for only a short time and cannot be enjoyed “without abandoning God and his people.” The temptation to indulge in worldly pleasure must be resisted.
v30-31: Christ can save the worst of sinners. The greatest sin, “if truly repented of” will be met by “the pardoning mercy of God.”
v32-40: When we consider “how great the number of believers was [in] in the Old Testament, and how strong their faith was,” even though their knowledge of Christ and His salvation was not as clear, it should cause us to “mourn the fact that now... the number of believers is so small and their faith so weak” when the revelation of Christ is complete.
