Galatians 4:8-20

v8-11: Once someone has been brought to a knowledge of God and His Son Jesus in the gospel, it foolish for them to abandon this for the old ceremonial way of worship of the Jews.

v12-16: "It is not uncommon for people to count as their enemies those who are really their best friends - for that is undoubtedly the proper name for those, whether ministers or others, who tell them the truth and deal freely and faithfully with them in matters that concern their eternal salvation."

v17-18: False teachers pretend to "have a great deal of affection for you" but they don't have good intentions, because they do this to draw you away from the truth and those who teach it.

v19-20: Who do you want serving as pastors or elders in your local church?  Not those whose key concern is to gain your affection, but those who long that Christ may be formed in you.  They are those whose desire is that you are "made more Christlike, and more fully established and confirmed in the Christian faith and life."
