Galatians 4:1-7

v1-3: Life for God's people in the Old Testament was like being a son, who even though they were an heir, while they young, were treated like a slaves for a period of time until they grew up.  Being under the law (the elements of the world) for Israel was a kind of slavery.  It was necessary teaching for them for a time, but now that Christ has come,  for the Jewish Christians to remain under "many burdensome rituals and observances" would be to remain as slaves when freedom is available.

v4-7: "The One who was truly God became human for our sakes" and suffered and died "in order to redeem us from the wrath of God and from the curse of the moral law, which, as sinners, we all lay under," so that we might adopted as sons.  Marvel at the love of the Father who sent His Son to save us, at the love of the Son who humbled Himself and suffered for us, and at the love of the Spirit who lives in our hearts and assures us that we have been adopted into God's family.
