Galatians 2:1-10

v1-5: Paul didn't make the trip he made to Jerusalem because "he thought it would be a good idea," nor was he "summoned to appear there" by Peter and the other apostles.  It was a direct revelation from God that made him go. "Although this is not something we have reason to expect, it should teach us that in everything significant that we undertake, we should endeavour, as far as we can, to see our way made clear before us and commit ourselves to the guidance of Providence."

v6-10: When Paul agreed to encourage the Gentile churches to support the poor Jewish Christians, many of whom at the time struggled to recognise converted Gentiles as brothers and sisters, he "taught us that we should in no way confine our love to those who share our sentiments precisely, but be ready to extend it to all whom we have reason to consider Christ's disciples."
