Deuteronomy 10

v1-11: God showed that "he was reconciled to Israel by means of four things." God "gave them his Law", "led them forward toward Canaan", "appointed a constant ministry among them", and "accepted Moses as an advocate or intercessor for them". God has done the same for us. He has put "his Law into our hearts," and leads us forward toward the heavenly Canaan. He gives settled ministries to churches which are "a great blessing," and He has accepted Christ as our advocate who "always lives to intercede for us.”

v12-22: "When we have received mercies from God, it is right that we ask what we should give him in return.” We must fear the Lord our God, love Him, walk in His ways, serve Him, and hold fast to Him. "We are to remain true to him as the One we love and delight in, the One we trust and confide in, and from whom we expect great things." We are also to "have a sympathetic concern for all who share with us in our human nature, and as we have opportunity... do good to all." In addition, we must "drive out all sinful desires and inclinations which hinder [us] from fearing and loving God.”

Deuteronomy 11

v1-7: "Love will work out in obedience." The "only acceptable obedience is what is motivated by love.”

v8-17: If God "has provided for our outward condition and our comforts," so that we have less to do for our bodies, we should be "more zealous" in serving God and seeking to do more for Him.

v18-25: All of us should be guided by the three rules given here, that "our hearts be filled with the word of God," that "our eyes be fixed on the word of God," and that we "talk about the word of God." We can't "expect good practices in our lives, unless there are good thoughts, good attitudes, and good motives in our hearts.”

v26-32: Those who obey God's law can be sure to receive a blessing. Those who disobey God's law, may be as sure of a curse. Wonderfully, in Christ, the blessing of obedience He deserved is ours, and the curse for disobedience we deserved, He received for us.
