Colossians 4:7-9

v7-8: "In the troubles and difficulties of life, it is a great encouragement to have the mutual concern of fellow Christians." The regular mutual sharing of news is helpful in facilitating this.

v9: Onesimus was the runaway slave belonging to Philemon, who was converted at Rome and now was returning to his master in Colossae, where he is to be welcomed back as a dearly loved brother.  This teaches us that "the lowliest circumstance of life, and greatest evil of a former life, make no difference in the spiritual relationship among sincere Christians: they share in the same privileges and are entitled to the same respect."
