2 Thessalonians 2:1-2

v1: Jesus will return. This is a certainty. At His second coming, all the saints will be gathered to Him, and their happiness will come to completion. It is important for us to believe this, and any mistakes or errors about this that arise in our thinking need to be corrected. We need to "take the first opportunity to deal with them, put them right, and prevent them from spreading" in the church, with the best way of doing this being "gently and affectionately."

v2: Our faith is weakened when we come to believe the error of false teachers, especially concerning the timing of Christ's coming, because this can lead us to "question the truth or certainty of the thing itself." It is vital that we do not waver in our firm belief in the second coming of Christ "which is the faith and hope of all the saints."
