2 Peter 2:20-22

v20: They are many people who have been “kept from gross and scandalous sins, even if they are not thoroughly converted and savingly changed,” by their “religious upbringing.” This to their advantage because it stopped them from “separating [themselves] even more from God and hardening [their] hearts against him” by abandoning themselves to the sins of the age. But unless they trust in Christ, “the light of truth” they have received, and the thoughts of Him they have, will not save them.

v21-22: God is greatly offended by those who return “to the same errors and ungodliness they had once rejected and seemed to detest and loathe,” and who now wallow “in the filthiness from which they once appeared to have been really cleansed.” It would have been better for them if they had never “professed to follow the Lord Jesus Christ.”
