2 Peter 2:10b-12
v10b: Those who “walk after the flesh,” are those who ”follow the devices and desires of their own hearts, giving themselves over to be led by their own fleshly minds, refusing to make their reason submit to divine revelation and to bring every thought to the obedience of Christ.” For as long as they continue in their sinful ways, the more ungodly they will become.
v11: When “angels accuse sinful creatures,” either other angels or humans, they do so before the Lord, “who is the Judge of, and will be the avenger of, all ungodliness and injustice.” These angels don’t make the faults of the accused “to their fellow creatures by way of slander.” When we pray that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven, we are praying that we would “imitate the angels in this matter,” by making our complaints about evildoers to God, and “with compassion” showing “that we belong to the One who is humble and merciful.”
v12: Just like irrational animals “follow the instinct of their physical appetite,” so “sinners follow the inclination of their sinful mind,” refusing “to use the understanding and reason God has given them and are ignorant of what they could and should know.” This ignorance leads to them speaking evil about another.
