2 Peter 1:3-4

v3: God by His power has not only called us out of darkness and into His marvellous light, He has also given us everything we need to live a godly life. The channels by which we receive these “spiritual resources and encouragements” are the “knowledge of God and faith in him.”

v4: God’s promises are so very precious. He promises pardon of sin. How great and wonderful it is to know that “sins that are numerous and detestable - each of which deserves God’s wrath and curse forever” have been forgiven. He promises the Holy Spirit, and how precious “the enlivening, enlightening, sanctifying Spirit” is. He promises that we will share in the divine nature, that is, we “are freed from the slavery of corruption” and are being “renewed in the spirit of our mind, after the image of God, in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness.”
