1 Peter 5:5-7
v5: Most conflicts in the church are caused by pride. When there is humility among the members, there is likely to be “peace and order” in the church.
v6: God’s hand is mighty, “and can easily humble you if you become proud, or exalt you if you are humble.” Not only can He do this, “but will certainly do it, either in this life, if he judges it best for you, or on the Day of Judgment.” Therefore, humble yourself.
v7: We all have many and various kinds of cares, whether they be personal or family, about the present or about the future, for ourselves, others, or the church. The best thing we can do with them is to cast them upon the Lord. Give them to Him, submitting to His purposes and trusting that He cares for you. “He is willing to release you from your anxiety and take it from you onto himself. He will either avert what you fear or support you in it. He will arrange everything for you in such a way that he will convince you of his fatherly love and tenderness toward you, and all will be in such a way that good, not harm, will come to you.”
