1 Peter 3:8-12

v8: With other Christians, we are to be “of one mind, to be unanimous in believing the same faith and practicing the same religious duties... to be united on the great points of faith, in genuine affection, and in Christian practice.” When we cannot agree exactly, we “should still have compassion on one another and love one another as brothers and sisters.”

v9: How are we to respond to those who persecute us? Instead of insulting them, abusing “them in bitter, fierce, and reproachful terms,” we must bless them, because this is the way to receive God’s blessing.

v10-11: “The way to contentment and happiness both here and in the future,” is by “turning from evil and doing good.”

v12: God takes special notice of His faithful people, “exercising providential, constant care of them,” and hearing their prayers. Towards unrepentant and unbelieving sinners, God “will pour out his wrath... He himself will do right, carrying out justice to the whole world.”
