1 Peter 2:18-25

v18-20: “Sinful behaviour by one party in a relationship does not justify sinful behaviour in another party.” In the work setting, this will mean doing our duties at work “faithfully and honestly,” even when our employer is being “sinfully unreasonable.”

v21-23: It was Jesus Christ who suffered for you. “It was not the Father who suffered, but the One whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world for that purpose. It was both the body and soul of Christ that suffered, and he suffered for us, in our place and for our good.”

v24: Christ’s death wasn’t merely intended to be an example of patience in suffering. He died for the sins of all His people. He died for us. “By his sacrifice he takes away our sins, removing them from us.” However, we cannot have the assurance that He has “borne [our] sins and made atonement for [our] guilt until” we have died to sin and live for righteousness.

v25: In Jesus, we have a “caring Shepherd, who loves his sheep and laid down his life for them,” and who is always keeping watch over them.
