1 Peter 1:8-12
v8-9: Truth faith in Christ produces two notable effects. It produces a “strong love” for Him and a joy “so great that it defies description.”
v10: Those who want to know about salvation “must inquire and search diligently into it.” If it was necessary for the prophets who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to do so, it is necessary for us to.
v11: “From the example of Christ Jesus we may learn to expect a time of service and suffering before” glory. This time of suffering compared with eternal glory is “relatively short.”
v12: The prophets “searched diligently into” the salvation to come through Jesus Christ. The apostles “consulted all the prophecies” and “were witnesses of their fulfilment,” making known “what they knew to others in preaching the Gospel.” The angels longed to catch a glimpse of this. These three kinds of students encourage us to “find the knowledge of Christ.”
