1 John 4:13-16

v13-14: The Lord Jesus is “the Son of the Father,” who was sent to be “the Saviour of the world.” He “save us by his death, example, intercession, Spirit, and power against the enemies of our salvation.” John and the other apostles, after seeing Him “in his human nature, in his holy life and works, in his transfiguration on the mountain, in his death, in his resurrection from the dead, and in his royal ascent to heaven,” were satisfied that Jesus is both the Son of God and Saviour of the world, so we can be too.

v15: “Those who acknowledge Christ in this way,” that He is the Saviour sent from the Father are “possessed by the Spirit of God and have a joyful knowledge of God and a deep, holy enjoyment of him.”

v16: “The record of the Lord Jesus Christ is the record of God’s love for us.” Everything we read about Him and what He has done is an example of the love that God has for us.
