1 Corinthians 7:1-24
v1-9: God's law neither prohibits someone from getting married nor insists that they do. "It was a matter in which people, according to the laws of God, were to a large extent free to do as they wished," within the boundaries God has set. Those who are married are to fulfil their marital duty to each other, and those who are single are to "keep themselves chaste."
v10-16: "In general... marriage, by Christ's command, is for life, and so those who are married must not think of separation." A husband and wife must not separate "for any other cause that what Christ allows," and are to be committed to each other for life.
v17-24: "No one should make their faith or religion an argument to break any natural or civil obligations. They should quietly and comfortably remain in the condition they are in, and they may well do this, given that remaining in that condition does not in itself prevent them from living before God."
