10 years ago, Banstead Community Church began to meet together.  But it wasn’t the only thing that began.

What else began in 2004?

The show ‘Who do you think you are?’ began and the craze for discovering your family history exploded.  McFly’s first single came out about a girl with 5 colours in her hair.  Apple released an iPod Mini.  The word ‘Podcast’ began to be used to describe an audio file that can be downloaded from the internet  and the number of churches that put their sermons online grew.  Also Saturday night television would not be the same again with the start of Strictly Come Dancing and The X-Factor.

Of all the things to begin, the biggest was by far – Facebook.

All these things have carried on, grown and developed over the last 10 years because of their popularity and continued interest in them.

But that’s not the reason why Banstead Community Church has grown and continued.

No, our testimony is the words found in Psalm 40:5: “Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done.  The things you have planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.”

Banstead Community Church has reached its 10 year anniversary because God has been at work, preserving us and blessing us.  He has done so much for us over the last 10 years – too many things for us to declare.

And as we look to the future, the next 5, 10, 20, however many years, if Banstead Community Church is still around then, it will be down to God.

It is He who gets the glory and praise.
