Psalm 65:3 says:

”Iniquities overwhelm me; only you can atone for our rebellions.”

Do you feel like you are always losing?

Losing in your struggle to obey Jesus.

Losing in your battle to not sin.

Do you feel like you are going backwards when it comes to following Christ?

You repeatedly stumble and fall.

Is your experience is like that of the psalmist – “Iniquities overwhelmed me”?

But when iniquities overwhelmed this psalmist, this is what he said to God. “Only you can atone for our rebellions.”

You see, when our sin overwhelms us, do you know what overwhelms God?

If you are trusting in Christ… It isn’t impatience. It isn’t anger. It isn’t disappointment.

What overwhelms God is grace and mercy.

What is God is like? He is a God who is gracious and compassionate, and who is rich in mercy, and this mercy is greater than your sin. He has given you His Son to assure you of this.

So, here is fresh hope for you if you have come burdened by your sin.

Here is fresh hope for you if you are overwhelmed by your iniquities.

Let’s do that now as we lift our voices and worship our merciful God.
