The Apostles’ Creed (Part 6) – Maker of Heaven and Earth

<aside> 💡 How many people are there in the world? 8 billion people. What about stars in our galaxy? 200-400 million. Now what about trees on the earth - more or less? 1 trillion. Any idea how many cows there are? 1.5 billion. Pigeons? 400 million.

Whether it’s people, stars, tree, cows, pigeons - or anything else - the Lord God made them all.

This is what Christians believe.

We’ve been working through the Apostles’ Creed, this summary of what Christians believe, and today we come to the line - maker of heaven and earth.

”I believe in God the Father, maker of heaven and earth.”

From the very first verse of the Bible, it is clear that God is the Creator.

“In the beginning God created the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

The God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is the Creator.

He shows He is almighty by making the heavens and the earth out of nothing.

He made the heavens - the sky above where birds and planes fly to the great expanse filled with the sun, moon and stars.

He made the earth - mountains, trees, seas, lakes, animals, and people.

And He made us in His image.

Because God is maker of heaven and earth, everything and everyone belongs to God.

“The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belongs to the Lord.” (Psalm 24:1)

When we say I believe in God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, we are saying that everything we have is from God and belongs to God, so we must answer to Him for how we live, for how we treat His world, and for how we treat other people.
