Powerpoint Pictures: Various Warning Signs

Sometimes you might come across a sign warning you about a danger that lies ahead, and to ignore this sign is to put yourself in harms way.

What dangers are these signs warning you about? [Sharks; Cliff; Electricity; Tripping hazard; Slippery or icy road]

Ignoring these warning signs may lead to you getting hurt or worse.

After Solomon died, the nation of Israel was divided in two: the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah, and each had their own king. Would either of these kings be the King that God promised to David?

Well, this King wasn’t going to come from the northern kingdom of Israel. No, from the first king Jeroboam to the last king Hoshea, the kings of Israel were all bad news. They were all bad kings who disobeyed God and led the people to worship pretend gods.

During this time God sent warning signs to the king and to the people, men called prophets, including Elijah and Elisha, to tell them that if they didn’t turn back to God, they were heading straight for danger.

But the king of Israel and the people would not listen, so God punished them.

“The king of Assyria invaded the entire land, marched against Samaria (the capital of Israel) and laid siege to it for three years… The king of Assyria captured Samaria and deported the Israelites to Assyria.” (2 Kings 17:5-6)

The people of Israel were captured and taken off to exile and after that the northern kingdom of Israel was no more.

“All this took place because the Israelites had sinned against the LORD their God.” (2 Kings 17:7)

With the northern kingdom gone, that left only the southern kingdom of Judah. Would the kings of Judah be any better than the kings of Israel? Would one of them be the King God promised?
